I like food...

Okay, so I do spend a lot of time thinking about food and I do spend a lot of time eating whether I need to or not...hence, the *exciting* title. Well, I survived my first week at the Uni and not without a bit of stress. One of the courses that I thought to take proved to be way to easy for me and the course I thought to take as a replacement, the professor is currently sick and it would mean that I will have four literature courses=tons of work. Alas, such is life. But now I am thinking of taking a history Uebung course about Freiburg in the middle Ages, which could be interesting. I have a referat on Wednesday and I will be working on that tomorrow with one of the other girls in my group...hopefully all will go well in that regard though I currently prefer not to think much on that ;-p Yesterday there was a party at campus and I went for a short while. I learned how to play a card game that is similar to Ligretto but called Nertz...it was *exciting* lol. But I did spend my time eating lots of popcorn--yay for food. Then today I went on a trip with the International Students Club to Meersburg and Constance on the Bodensee (Lake Constance), which was a lot of fun despite the weather being cool and cloudy. I met a couple really nice girls to hang out with and I even managed to read some of a novel for another course "Tonio Kroeger". I wanted to try eating Maultaschen, a schwaebisch dish but couldn't find a place that sold them and so I settled for Thailandish instead. It was quite tasty but I think a bit too spicy for my "mild-salsa girl-ness"...good experience though. NOw I am quite tired from waking up early and be on the go for the day. On Monday I'm going on a hike and so I hope the weather will improve...if it's raining then they will be doing something else due to the dangers of the trail. Schau ma mal. I would really like it to work out because it is my one attempt at fitness ;-p And now it's time to have a shower. Wuensche euch einen schoenen Abend noch und alles Gute zum Geburtstag Bean!

Back in Freiburg...

Hallo ihr alle! Na ja, jetzt bin ich wieder in Freiburg und gestern war ich net froh, hier zu sein aber so geht's. Now I'm doing better, especially because my internet is behaving a token amount better (at least for now). I had a super nice time at home...I did a lot of dancing though I'm not in super shape and I survived my dentist appointment/filling experience too lol. I went for coffee with Katelyn after that and then got to visit my cousin and one of my best friends in Edmonton on the Easter weekend. I really enjoyed being home for Easter because we had turkey and stuffing (lots of it) and I definitely ate a lot of food on Sunday night. I got a hiking backpack from MEC on Monday...it took a long time for me to choose what I wanted because I'm indecisive but I eventually made a choice. This bag will be good too because if I never were to use it again, then my siblings could go for it...at least I would hope that it would last longer than one trip ;-p Tuesday I had lunch with Hayley and we almost peeed (s/p?) our pants laughing at the cheesy mother's day cards, which I tried to read out loud--there are certainly some bad cards out there lol. I had coffee, well we had these yummy green tea lattes, with Krista and then after tuesday afternoon I was pretty much at home and starting to get ready to come back to Germany. I did spend wednesday lunch *pining* at the window while waiting for my mother to come home and eat lunch with me...I thought thursday might be a repeat when she didn't seem to be appearing too early but both times she had been delayed. It's all good. Our flight had some *excitment* to start with as we had to go back to the gate after an attempt at take-off...they had discovered some technical problem that needed fixing before we could take-off an hour+ later. Other than that though we arrived safely and my gluten-free meals weren't bad at all...I even had a bagel at breakfast time ;-p Now my stomach is all messed up because I try to eat at the normal time here but I end up getting hungry during other times as well. Last night after the Piperdown concert a couple of us went out and I ordered some food because I was hungry again...I think it was about snack time in Calgary lol and I'm hoping things will improve or I won't be doing much weight maintenance. My internet has been *interesting* in the last two days, being all connected but when I tried to go online it wouldn't connect and the msn troubleshooter kept saying that there were issues with the key ports...the received packets were also much lower/slower than the sent packets, whatever that might mean. Oh well, at the moment it is working and I hope that things will continue to sort themselves out. Well I should probably go now...I 'm going to watch piper down again at another venue--a pub, so I'll smell really *beautiful* by the end--because I don't want to get too bored being by myself...that leads me to thinking that I'm trying to avoid right now...I've been thinking too much that way in the last day so now it's time to reduce it. Hopefully this wasn't too boring...it's pretty much to help my memory if nothing else. Have a nice weekend! Ich wuensche euch einen schoenen Tag noch!

Yay for home...

So this is more for me to remember who I hung out with than anything else lol. I must say I have been having a nice time at home...nice to have choice in the fridge and to see my family and to go dancing a couple of times. I can pretend that I am fit again :-p Last week I visited Candace at Rocky and then I had lunch with my Mom, which was of course, *exciting*. Then on Friday I saw Katrina at the U of C and I bumped into Stephanie, who I used to dance with before going out to lunch with Jill. On Saturday I went shopping with my brother for golf shirts...terrribly *exciting* stuff and then I went to THING...it's crazy how many new people there were but also very good for TEC. Sunday I went ot church and then Lindsay came over to bake something...we made apple muffins, they were yummy and gone really fast. In the evening I had a sleepover with Hayley and we watched Harry Potter 4...I've seen that movie three times now and twice in the last week lol. Monday I met Laurel for "coffee" (we had jugo juice instead) and then I went to dance...they were working on recital pieces but it was still really nice to see everyone. Some of us went out for cheesecake too and I basically finished my whole piece before going to jazz...maybe not the best idea but at least I didn't have to dance too hardcore. I would love to dance in the recital because recitals were always very fun experiences but I won't be here at all...so I'm going for watching a DVD of the recital when I come back in the fall. *the excitement* Yesterday I met Christine Freckleton and we went shopping at the mall and then I went to the WEimers to visit Lisa...I had some tasty apple crisp and saw some cool pictures from Kazakhstan (s/p?) I was really glad to see Lisa and their parents at least...I do need my Weimer-fix even if Robin isn't there ;-p Today I'm going to visit my Dad at lunch and we're going to his bible study, which could be *interesting* but it's all good...this afternoon I've been invited to go to another dance class (I can pretend I know what I'm doing ;-p) and I'm meeting Vince for coffee after dinner. So I'm keeping busy, which is good because otherwise I might sit in front of the TV all night long but at some point I would like to just be around when my family is around. Hopefully I can arrange that...at least at Easter. Well, time for some token German...ich wuensche euch einen schoenen Tag noch!

Bis bald...hope you don't have to go to the lab thing Bean ;-p

Coming home...

I spend way too much time sitting and *planning* what to bring, what I need to do, etc....this I have determined this week as I have begun getting ready for my trip. I am super super *excited* and also tired because I've been staying up later to read a book or get up to make phone calls, etc. Nothing like a good night's sleep, which I intend for tonight. But first I get to do some laundry and that means I have to decide what I want to take home with me. *ahhh* Yes, back to the planning. I got my rain coat back today and that was nice because now I don't have to worry about it or pushing the limits of my sad-looking umbrella. I met with Clarice today and we did a little bit of tap dance before we came into town with another girl, LInda, for ice cream and then bratwurst. So I spent some money I know, but what was cool, the people at the bratwurst stand were willing to cut my bread for me so that I could eat my wurst on bread as opposed to just by itself...I wasn't sure if they would do such a thing but I'm glad that they did. I have a hard enough time saying no to baked goods, I don't need more issues by eating a bun lol. Tomorrow I'm going to a lunch at International Connection and that should be *exciting*. I also get to call the airline tomorrow to check my flight...maybe I can even go and buy my train ticket too--yay for feeling like being productive ;-p At least it has stopped raining now and I can see part of the sunset through the clouds. I hope that you have a more *exciting* day Bean...ich wuensche euch einen schoenen Tag noch :-) Bis bald.
